Take Care Australia 🇦🇺 This beautiful country is home to many animals that I had never seen before until coming here almost 3 years ago.
It is so sad to see the Bushfires affecting so many people and animals.
Several areas of the country are affected by heavy smoke making air quality very poor. If you are affected be sure to spend more time indoors with the air conditioning on and avoid any vigorous outdoor activity. If you do need to go outside invest in a disposable P2 face mask. These are able to filter out very fine particles from the air when used correctly and can be brought from your local hardware store.
If you suffer from respiratory problems please see your local GP for medication and an action plan.
As many of my Australian patients say “Australia only does things in extremes” and I hope that this extreme is over soon. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
It’s time to work out 🏋️♀️🤺🤸♂️ Australia is silently suffering from an obesity epidemic. With 1 in 4 Australian children now either obese or overweight and nearly 2 thirds of adults overweight or obese it’s time to take action.
These are scary statistics which can be avoided with education on healthy eating and exercise.
Being obese or overweight leads to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease to name a few.
So the next time you’re thinking about spending the day indoors grazing in front of Netflix why not take a walk outside, enjoy some of the beautiful sites and fresh fruit and veg Australia has to offer.
Calling all Australians 🇦🇺 In 2018 we spent 5.9 billion hours on social media. Whilst this is a great platform for getting inspiration and communicating with loved ones, it’s also having a detrimental affect on our mental health.
Research has shown that social media can impact our self esteem, affect our sleep, change our human interaction and make us unhappy.
So next time you feel like checking Snapchat, Instagram or Tinder, pause and take a look out the window, there’s a whole world out there to be discovered.
🇳🇿 Happy Australia Day 🇳🇿 Whether you’re on the beach or going for a mountain hike this long weekend, remember, temperatures are soaring so keep hydrated.💦 It’s recommended that men drink 10 cups of fluid a day and women to drink 8, but if you’re exercising or sweating a lot you’ll need more.
