What You Should Know About Vaccine Medical Exemptions in Australia | Doctor Explains 💉

Everyone is talking about granting vaccine exemptions in Australia. As a General Practitioner, I get asked this question often, so in today’s episode I clear up some common misbeliefs and talk you through the official criteria for a vaccine exemption.

Vaccine exemptions are uncommon and are only given after much careful consideration by the patient’s medical team. All the information within this video has been taken from the Australian Government Department of Health and the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and is current as of January 7th 2022. Why is it important❓

Most people affected by meningococcal disease fully recover. However for some people it can lead to long term health complications such as limb deformity and brain damage.

Some of the highest rates of meningococcal disease are amongst those aged between 15-19 and so having a vaccine will help to reduce this rate.
