It was a pleasure to be invited as a guest speaker at the monthly Me Time seminar held by SARA, a group that supports women who have been affected by domestic and family violence.
This month’s topic was all about spreading health awareness from cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening to skin checks amongst others.
To find out more about the group head over to mfo.org.au.
This International Women’s Day, I had the pleasure of being invited to talk at the Multicultural Families Organisation event held at TAFE Queensland, helping to inspire and empower women with the ability to challenge negativity.
The day was a great success filled with beautiful performances by delegates from all over the world.

Based on the Chinese Zodiac, this year is the year of the Ox. Legend has it that those born in this year are strong, reliable, fair and conscientious and inspire confidence in others. However, they are also stubborn and hate to fail or be challenged.
If you were born in the year of the Ox do have these traits?
In short, yes. Our metabolism naturally slows down as we age. This makes it easier for us to gain a few extra kilos of weight and much harder to loose them.
But did you know, that staying active can help to prevent this drop. If you are able to keep active and have good muscle mass then your resting metabolism is increased - which is the amount of calories that are burned when you are resting or asleep.
Activities that you could try to help prevent your metabolism slowing down include weight training, high intensity interval training, like running on the beach for periods of time and ensuring that you eat a healthy diet which includes protein.
If you have any questions feel free to pop by and see me in clinic.
Take care and stay healthy 😘

With summer well and truly in full swing make sure you always remain sun smart.
We’re very fortunate that in this part of the world we have glorious sunshine but remember the UV index is at an all time high with average readings over 10. Exposure to such high levels can lead to ageing of the skin, which means wrinkles, but more importantly it increases your chance of developing nasty skin cancer. So this summer, stay sun smart and regularly apply sunblock at least spf 30+ as well as popping on a hat, sunnies and protective clothing.
