A new week brings new opportunities and achievements 💪
Each week, I make a list of the things that I want to achieve. These are tasks that are realistic and can be done with a little motivation. This week I am aiming to complete my final exam for the practical management of skin cancer in General Practice. Helping to provide better care for my patients in sunny Queensland.
With over 19,000 Australians dying of smoking related diseases each year, making a change to stop smoking this year is a great goal.
Did you know that when you stop smoking a number of positive impacts happen to your body? Within 24 hours blood levels of Carbon Monoxide are dramatically reduced, meaning more oxygen can reach vital organs. With long term smoking cessation over 10 years, the risk of lung cancer is less than half that of person who continues to smoke.
It’s never too late to make a positive change to your body. Please pop by and see me in clinic for information and help.
Whether you’re passing through troubled waters or sailing smooth, let your General Practitioner help guide you through your journey.
Your GP is often the first port of call when you have a problem. They have the ability to listen to your story, assess the situation and provide you with the most suitable outcome to help you through.
So, if you are experiencing any difficulties, or simply want some advice, pop in to see your local doctor today. A problem shared is a problem halved.
Ladies, this week is National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week. With the recent world events many have put their own health on the backseat and delayed their cervical screening.
Cervical screening changed in December 2017. The new test is more accurate at detecting HPV which can lead to cell changes in the cervix. Once you have had the new test and it is normal you will only need one every 5 years.
So girls, what are you waiting for? Together we can build on the WHO’s vision where cervical cancer is eliminated as a public health concern by 2030. Book in your screening today. For more information about eligibility head over to accf.org.au.
