As your friend, I wanted to let you know about the dangers of sugar.

I recently picked up this fantastic read by Dr John Yudkin “Pure, White and Deadly” which gives a fascinating insight to the dangers of sugar consumption and its increased use worldwide.

Did you know, there is no physiological requirement for humans to have sugar? This means we can get all of our nutritional needs without having a single spoon of white, brown or raw sugar. More worryingly, if only a small fraction of what is already known about the effects of sugar were to be revealed in relation to any other material used as a food additive, that material would be banned.

It certainly has made me rethink my outlook on sugar, and if you’re not one for reading, I’ll be sure to do a summary video soon on drnora.com.

So next time you reach out for that mid afternoon biscuit take a moment to think, ‘what benefit is this having on my body?’ Take care and stay healthy 😘

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It kick starts your metabolism after the overnight fast and replaces your energy stores to help get you going for the day ahead.

I like starting my day with a healthy bowl of porridge. 🥣 Oats are packed with nutrients, from iron to folate and are high in fiber which means they’ll keep me full until lunchtime, helping to avoid that mid morning slump.

Dieting doesn’t have to be extreme!

One of the commonest New Year’s resolution is to go on a diet. For many that triggers thoughts of starvation or eating only lettuce for a month but it shouldn’t have to be!

Eating healthy is simple, for example why not grill meat instead of frying. Swap that mid morning biscuit with a piece of fruit. Keep hydrated with water rather than soda and swap that cheese toastie with a fresh nutritious salad 🥗

With such small and simple changes, eating healthy will be easy and fun and most importantly rewarding for your health.

Don’t be like Ken. Ken skipped breakfast this morning 🤦‍♂️ Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It kicks starts your metabolism after the overnight fast and replaces your energy stores to help get you going for the day ahead.

By having a healthy breakfast which could include whole grain cereals, porridge and fresh fruit or boiled eggs, you ensure that your getting beneficial nutrients. Having breakfast regularly also helps to stabilise your blood sugar levels and improve your memory and concentration so that when lunchtime hits, you’re not struggling like our mate Ken.
