During my working week I spend a lot of time dealing with mental health concerns. From anxiety, to depression to eating disorders amongst many others. Mental health is a serious and real issue. One in five Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year. Often people may be too shy or worried about judgment to come forward and seek help, however, there is ample support if you need it. Your general practitioner can facilitate psychological therapy sessions, medication or even just regular support, because a problem shared is a problem halved.
If you or someone you know is struggling please pop by and see me in clinic for further help.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed with New Years resolutions, feeling the financial strain or are simply stressed, speaking to someone can help with thinking clearly and achieving realistic goals.
If you or a family member is affected by mental health you could be entitled to a mental health care plan under Medicare which allows you to speak with a psychologist.
If you would like more information or help with mental heath please pop by and see me in clinic.
Anxiety, depression, substance misuse and eating disorders are just some of the common mental health problems that affect many of us. In fact over half the population will experience a mental disorder at some point in their lives.
Don’t suffer alone. There’s a wealth of help out there, from psychological therapies, support groups, coaching groups, medication and so much more.
If you are concerned about yourself or a friend please seek medical help and pop by and see me in clinic.
Schizophrenia is a medical condition that affects the normal functioning of a person’s brain. Some people do recover and with time some find their symptoms improve, however for many it can be a prolonged illness. Approximately 1 in 100 people will develop it in their lives.
The symptoms can include confused thinking, delusions and hallucinations such as hearing voices that are not actually there.
We don’t yet fully know what causes Schizophrenia but we know that it could be due to a combination of genetics and possible environmental factors, such as the use of drugs.
Schizophrenia is treated using medication and community support programmes. Treatment is necessary to reduce or even eliminate the symptoms.
If you or a family member are concerned about Schizophrenia or would like more information, please pop by and see me in clinic.
Take care and stay healthy 😊
