“Doc, how do I loose weight? 🤔” Is a question I hear all the time.
With summer just around the corner it’s time to get into shape.
From the Atkins diet to the South Beach diet, there are loads of ways to loose weight.
Many of these diets often cause a quick reduction in weight due to the loss of fluid in the body, rather than fat. The best and safest way to loose weight is with traditional exercise and eating healthy balanced meals.
Exercise can be fun and it’s suggested that you do at least 30 minutes of activity 5 times in a week to get your heart pumping. That could be anything from a brisk walk to kick boxing!
Let’s get fit for summer together 💪
Remember to always seek the advice of your medical doctor before going on any exercise plans. As always, if you have any questions feel free to pop by and see me in clinic.
Exercise has many beneficial impacts on the body from overall health and well being to the prevention of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
It’s so common to hear ‘I don’t have time for exercise’ but it doesn’t have to start with anything strenuous!
There are many exercises you can do at work, such as going for regular walks, stretching out your arms and legs and eating your lunch away from your desk. Research has shown that with 30 minutes of exercise or activity on most days of the week, the risk of chronic health problems are reduced.
So what are you waiting for, get up and take a walk!

RAMADAN
Ramadan (/ˌræməˈdɑːn/; Arabic: رمضان Ramaḍān is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, according to numerous biographical accounts compiled in the hadiths.
FASTING
Fasting is the willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. An absolute fast or dry fasting is normally defined as abstinence from all food and liquid for a defined period.
My highlight of the week was meeting a lovely new patient today who found me on YouTube/Instagram 👍
I absolutely love it when you all come by and visit after seeing one of my posts, it’s a real pleasure! I look forward to bringing you more useful health tips and videos 😄
Though they do say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, be sure to keep your fruit and veggie intake up but do pop in to see me in clinic when needed.
Coeliac disease is a serious medical illness that affects 1 in 70 Australians, however 80% who are affected remain undiagnosed.
Coeliac disease mainly affects parts of the small bowel. It happens when the gut reacts to gluten which is present in foods made from wheat, barley and rye.
What are the symptoms?
The symptoms include tummy ache, tiredness and weight loss. You may find that the symptoms disappear if you do not eat foods containing gluten.
How can I test for Coeliac disease?
Your doctor may organise a blood test, however you will need to have eaten a diet containing gluten for at least 6 weeks before the test is performed. Your doctor may also wish to refer you to a specialist for more specific investigations.
How is Coeliac Disease managed?
It is really important that if you are diagnosed with Coeliac disease to avoid any foods that contain gluten. Sometimes seeing a dietician can help too.
If you have any concerns or would like more information, pop by and see me in clinic.
